Mary Schlunegger
In Mary’s early childhood, her father made a “little studio” for her, which encouraged her love of drawing and painting throughout her life. Having spent most of her life growing up surfing the shores of California and Hawaii, she had found great inspiration from those memories and recent ones along the Oregon Coast. One can see in her work a very close connection with the ocean and wildlife.
She had a bustling interior design business in California for 30 years before settling on the North Coast. Now that she is retired, she can pour that same energy into her art. She has recently continued her art lessons with Debbie Loyd; Shirley Dahlsten; Michael Schlichting; Lynne Wintermute; and Ruth Armitage, experimenting with texture and color to create a cohesive piece of art.
Her work has appeared in several galleries: Fairweather House and Gallery; Bliss Boutique; the Gallery on 10th; Broadway Gallery (Longview, Washington); Trail’s End Gallery; The Great Gallery; and private collections.
